We were invited to visit our friends Ben and Kelee a couple of weeks ago for a barbecue. We consider visiting them to be a field trip to "large kitchen" land. Their kitchen is the size of our living room. And they have a backyard with 2 big grills.
Ben takes grilling very seriously. That day he was experimenting on the Weber with Alton Brown's grilling technique, very low, very slow.
Here is a quick look at the pork, but most of the time he just peeked through the top of the grill to make sure that the temperature was 220 degrees.
"It's still low."
On the other grill he had corn.
After the corn was husked, we headed upstairs to visit Kelee.
Their kitchen is huge and the oven is twice the size of ours. We love these field trips.
Then Kelee made homemade barbecue sauce to go with the amazing pork. Deliciousness.
1 1/2 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 cup of chopped pickled jalapenos
It was a most excellent field trip. We left full, and happy.
